The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Korean Jindo is a medium-sized dog with a strong, balanced body, upright ears and dense hair. Its tail may be sickle-shaped or curled over the back. Colours include white and red. An attentive expression and free, efficient movement suit active exploration.
It comes from Jindo Island off the Korean Peninsula’s southwestern coast. Historically difficult travel limited incoming dogs and helped preserve the local type. Its precise beginnings are undocumented, although it is firmly rooted in Korean tradition. Hunting, guarding and local living conditions shaped its breeding.
Usually strongly attached to its people, the Jindo is more reserved with strangers. It watches its surroundings closely and makes independent decisions. An animal’s scent or movement can quickly attract intense interest. In familiar surroundings it may be calm and restrained in expressing emotion, yet determined in action.
