The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Keeshond, or Wolfspitz, has a dense, stand-off silver-grey coat with dark hair tips. An abundant ruff surrounds the neck and a bushy tail rests over the back. Dark eye markings resemble spectacles. Small upright ears and a wedge-shaped head remain distinct despite the luxuriant coat, which makes the compact body appear larger.
It belongs to the German Spitz breeds, rooted in Central European farm and watchdog traditions. Their shared standard covers several sizes; the Wolfspitz retains a larger size and characteristic grey colouring. Keeshond is widely used outside German-speaking countries. Breeding chiefly established an alert dog accompanying people in everyday surroundings.
It usually takes a strong interest in household members and likes being wherever activity is happening. Sociable, quick to learn and playful, it also promptly announces visitors or new sounds. After the initial alarm it can readily return to social contact. Attention often centres on its person, making shared activities as appealing as exercise itself.
