Polistes gallicus — size comparison — facts and sources
Polistes gallicus occurs in warmer parts of Europe and neighbouring regions. Polish observations formerly attributed to this name should not automatically be assigned to this species, as they may concern other paper wasps.
Adults use nectar and other liquid food sources, while the larvae receive animal food. Workers search for insects and bring portions of food to the nest.
It builds a paper comb with exposed cells, attached to a sheltered support in a warm place. Unlike the nests of many wasps, it lacks a large, multilayered outer envelope.
