Firebug — size comparison — facts and sources
The firebug often gathers near lime trees and at other sunny sites. It sucks seeds of lime trees, mallows and black locust and also uses dead insects. Young nymphs feed in surroundings similar to those of adults.
Adults overwinter beneath leaves, in litter and under loose bark. They may emerge on mild sunny days. During mating the sexes remain joined at their abdominal tips and move together.
