The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The American Paint Horse has a strong stock-horse build, a broad chest and muscular hindquarters. Large white patches form patterns including tobiano, overo and tovero. Their arrangement across the body, head and legs gives individual horses very different appearances.
The Paint is a breed developed in the United States with specific ancestry requirements. A patched coat alone does not qualify a horse for registration. The American Paint Horse Association also registers solid-coloured horses meeting its pedigree requirements, so colour and breed membership are separate matters.
Strength, agility and willingness to cooperate are valued in its work. Paints handle cattle, compete in western and English disciplines and accompany riders on trails. They can shift quickly from calm work to an energetic acceleration, turn or stop.
