Arabian horse — size comparison — facts and sources

The Arabian horse has a refined head, large eyes and wide nostrils. Many have a gently concave facial profile. An arched neck leads into a short back and relatively level croup. The high carriage of the tail gives the outline a distinctive appearance, especially when the horse is alert.

The breed developed through horse breeding on the Arabian Peninsula, where endurance over long distances was highly valued. Arabian blood has influenced many other breeds, including the Thoroughbred, often contributing stamina and a lighter, more refined type.

Arabians commonly respond quickly to their surroundings and subtle signals from a rider. Their energy and stamina are especially valued in endurance riding. They are also used for leisure riding, shows and other ridden disciplines.
