The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The German Pinscher is a medium-sized dog with a short, glossy coat and clearly visible muscles. It has a compact outline, strong legs and an elongated head. Colours include red and black with tan markings. It is sometimes compared with the Dobermann but is smaller and constitutes a separate breed with its own history.
Its ancestors lived around German farms, stables and outbuildings. They guarded premises and controlled rats and other rodents. Smooth and rough-coated Pinschers shared roots; later breeding separated them into today's Pinscher and Schnauzer. Short-haired Pinschers were recorded in the German studbook as early as 1880, long before the modern image of many companion dogs became established.
It is energetic, confident and quick to assess situations. It watches its surroundings attentively, notices new sounds and readily investigates nearby events. It is engaged with household members but does not always wait for guidance before acting. Easy learning combines with initiative, while interest in small animals recalls its farm origins.
