Megalodon — size comparison — facts and sources
Megalodon was an enormous shark with large, serrated teeth. Its fossil record consists chiefly of teeth and vertebral fragments rather than a complete body. Teeth and feeding traces indicate use of large marine animals.
It was not simply a modern great white shark enlarged uniformly. Newer studies allow a slenderer outline. The species is extinct; stories of it hiding in modern oceans lack confirmation.
