The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Eurasier is a medium-sized spitz with a dense coat, erect ears and a bushy tail curled over its back. It has a strong, proportionate body and wedge-shaped head. It occurs in various shades, including red, fawn, grey and black. Its abundant coat is longer on the neck, tail and hind legs, while the muzzle remains clearly visible.
Julius Wipfel created the breed in Germany, beginning crosses between Chow Chows and Wolfspitz dogs in 1960. Initially it was called the Wolf-Chow. Samoyeds later joined the programme, and the new name Eurasier referred to its ancestors' European and Asian roots. From the start, the aim was a companion dog strongly attached to its family with a calm disposition.
The Eurasier usually watches its surroundings attentively without responding noisily to every stimulus. It can be affectionate with those close to it and enjoys staying near them, but need not greet new people enthusiastically. It often chooses when to approach. It is quick to learn yet can retain its own opinion; calm independence and attachment expressed through everyday companionship are readily apparent.
