Megaraptor — size comparison — facts and sources

Megaraptor was a predatory theropod of Cretaceous Patagonia. Its remains were discovered in Neuquén province, Argentina. It lived in a terrestrial landscape with rivers and floodplains, inhabited by various dinosaurs and smaller vertebrates. Anatomy confirms a meat diet, but precise prey-capture methods and the balance between hunting and scavenging cannot be reconstructed directly.

The first exceptionally large claw was initially interpreted as part of a foot, influencing the animal's name and popular depictions. Later finds showed it belonged to a hand. Studies of relatives continue to change interpretations of this group's relationships; partial material requires caution when reconstructing the entire animal.
