Mamenchisaurus — size comparison — facts and sources

Mamenchisaurus hochuanensis was a sauropod of Jurassic China. Its extraordinarily long neck formed a substantial part of the outline. Four limbs supported a heavy body balanced behind by a long tail.

It ate plants. A long neck increased feeding reach, but usual posture and range of motion remain reconstructed. The species was described from a particular skeleton whose missing elements are supplemented through comparisons with relatives. Other Mamenchisaurus species had different proportions and did not all reach the same size.
