Lufengosaurus was an Early Jurassic Chinese herbivore belonging to early sauropodomorphs. This lineage later produced giant sauropods, but early members differed in ecology and locomotion. Particular food plants and seasonal dietary changes remain difficult to establish.

Described in 1941, its skeletons played an important role in Chinese palaeontology. The name refers to the discovery locality. Well-preserved material allows comparison of limb and body development within sauropodomorphs.
