Dromaeosaurus — size comparison — facts and sources

Dromaeosaurus was a small predatory dinosaur of Late Cretaceous North America. It hunted vertebrates, although its exact prey is unknown. Sediments containing remains of this group document rich terrestrial ecosystems where smaller reptiles and mammals lived alongside large dinosaurs.

William Matthew and Barnum Brown described the species in 1922. The family name Dromaeosauridae derives from its name. Membership of this family helps reconstruct limb function and probable feathering, but does not replace direct evidence for the species. Popular group-hunting scenes are not a confirmed record of its behaviour.
