Coelophysis — size comparison — facts and sources

Coelophysis was a slender, bipedal Late Triassic predator with a long neck and tail. It ate small animals, including small reptiles. New Mexico finds provide exceptionally abundant evidence about individual variation and growth.

Large skeletal concentrations are valuable, but their formation must be explained through geological processes. Some remains were formerly interpreted as evidence of cannibalism. Re-examination showed that some bones identified in this way belonged to other reptiles, changing interpretations of diet.
