The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
Arthropleura was an enormous terrestrial arthropod of the Carboniferous and Early Permian. It was related to millipedes, rather than to dinosaurs. Its tracks and remains are known from Europe and North America.
Not all sites represent the same species or growth stage. Its diet remains uncertain, so it is presented neither as a definite predator nor exclusively as a consumer of dead plants. Research published in 2024 revealed new head details from very small juveniles.
These specimens were of an unidentified species, so transferring their features to the giant Arthropleura mammata requires caution. Segment number may have changed during growth.
