Amargasaurus — size comparison — facts and sources

Amargasaurus was a herbivorous sauropod of Early Cretaceous Patagonia. It belonged to the dicraeosaurids and had a relatively short neck for this great group. Tall, forked projections extended from the neck vertebrae, forming two rows above the neck.

The bones survive, but their soft-tissue covering and function remain debated. Display and defence have been among the proposed roles. Vertebral shape and comparisons with relatives also help reconstruct head movements during feeding.
