The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
Albertosaurus was a relative of Tyrannosaurus with a lighter build and proportionately long lower hindlimbs. It had a toothed skull, a short back and small, two-fingered hands. Its fossils are particularly well known from Alberta, Canada.
Finds include animals of different ages, allowing growth and changing proportions to be studied. A shared bone accumulation suggests social contact but does not by itself prove cooperative hunting. It ate meat. Albertosaurus sarcophagus is distinguished from Gorgosaurus, which was formerly placed in the same genus.
