The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Danish Spitz, or Dansk Spids, is a pale dog with erect ears and a bushy tail curled over its back. It has a wedge-shaped head, dense hair and a light, capable build. Hair is fuller on the neck and chest than on the muzzle. Overall it resembles a small, lively farm dog.
It belongs to traditional Danish local populations bred for a long time without extensive organisation. It accompanied families and helped watch farmyards. As such dogs declined, the Dansk Kennel Klub began finding surviving individuals and rebuilding the population in 1988. This provided the basis for an organised register and breed description.
The Dansk Spids is usually lively, sociable and interested in people. It enjoys joining household activities and may bark at new sounds or movement. Alertness combines with curiosity about its surroundings. In close contact it can be cheerful and playful.
