The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Polish Greyhound is tall, strong and more muscular than many other sighthounds. It has long legs, a deep chest and a clearly tucked-up belly. Short hair reveals its build well, while the long head retains a determined, attentive expression.
Sighthounds have been documented in Polish lands since the thirteenth century. They hunted hares, roe deer and wolves among other game and later appeared in literature and painting. The modern breed was preserved and rebuilt from surviving traditional-type dogs. Historical similarities to other sighthounds do not reduce its ancestry to a simple Greyhound–Borzoi cross.
It is usually confident and clearly reserved. It need not immediately approach a stranger even when calmly tolerating their presence. Detected movement, however, may trigger an immediate decisive response. In pursuit it can act without looking back to its handler. It forms strong bonds with familiar people, often expressed through quiet companionship rather than insistent attention-seeking.
