Cavachon (Cavalier × Bichon Frise) — size comparison — facts and sources
The Cavachon is a cross between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon Frise. It is usually a small dog with drop ears and soft hair that may be wavy or more curled. White colouring often combines with coloured patches. Muzzle length and head roundness vary, as does the amount of ear hair.
Both parent breeds have long traditions of living close to people. The Cavalier recalls small spaniels of British courts, and the Bichon European companion dogs. Modern crosses were intended to develop this role. Cavachon nevertheless remains a crossbreed name without one shared history of establishment or a closed standard.
It may be cheerful, sociable and interested in playing with family members. Gentleness, vigilance and sensitivity do not occur equally in every dog. Some readily approach new people; others first watch from a distance. Companion ancestry favours close contact but does not guarantee identical behaviour in all offspring.
