Water Leopard F1 · experimental hybrid — size comparison — facts and sources

Water Leopard is a trade name for a programme claiming to cross domestic cats with the fishing cat, Prionailurus viverrinus. The wild ancestor comes from Asian wetlands, and F1 is intended to denote its direct offspring with a domestic cat.

The programme has no standard recognised by major feline federations. Available appearance and behaviour information comes chiefly from the breeder and therefore does not independently confirm traits across a population. The Feline Veterinary Medical Association opposes such crosses because of welfare concerns and the unpredictable needs of early generations. Water Leopard remains an experimental programme name, not an established breed.
