The Ukrainian Levkoy combines Donskoy-type reduced hair with forward-folded ears inherited from the Scottish Fold. It has clearly visible skin and characteristically bent ear flaps. The name refers to the stock flower, whose petals were thought to resemble its ears.
The programme’s first registered cat, Levkoy Primero, was born in 2004. RUI publishes a standard, but major federations do not broadly recognise the breed.
Ear folding is associated with a mutation disrupting cartilage and bone development that can cause painful osteochondrodysplasia. Crossing a Fold with another breed does not remove this link. The trait therefore affects the whole animal’s structure beyond the head’s appearance.
