Thai — size comparison — facts and sources

The Thai has a stronger body and more rounded head than the modern Siamese. Its short, silky coat is pale on the body, with a darker mask, ears, feet and tail. Blue eyes and moderate proportions are important features.

The breed preserves the traditional type of Thailand’s Wichien Maat cats, also ancestral to the Siamese. As Siamese breeding increasingly favoured a slender outline and longer head, some breeders continued developing the earlier type. Thai now distinguishes this breeding direction.

It is usually highly communicative and readily forms close human relationships. It often answers vocally, follows its owner and joins activities. It enjoys energetic games, searching for hidden toys and opportunities to discover things independently.
