Savannah — size comparison — facts and sources
The Savannah has very long legs, a slender body and enormous, high-set ears. Dark spots mark the short coat, and pale patches occur behind the ears. A small head on a long neck and a tall outline create an appearance distinctly different from most domestic cats.
The breed originated from matings between domestic cats and servals. In later generations breeders selected spotted coats and tall outlines as well as behaviour. Generation labels matter: a direct serval offspring and a cat bred within the breed for many generations may differ considerably in size and responses.
Savannahs are generally very active and interested in their surroundings. They readily jump high, investigate new objects and play with people. They can learn simple tasks, and some take an interest in water and retrieving.
