Peterbald — size comparison — facts and sources
The Peterbald has an elongated, slender body, a wedge-shaped head and very large ears. Not all are completely hairless: fine down, velour, rougher brush coats and full coats occur. Hair amount and texture may change in young animals.
The breed originated in Saint Petersburg in 1994 through a Don Sphynx–Oriental cross. Its light, long outline comes from the Oriental, while reduced hair comes from Russian Donskoy cats. TICA granted championship status in 2005.
It is usually highly sociable and enjoys staying close to its owner. It follows between rooms, vocalises and actively seeks contact. It responds quickly to invitations to play, often combining rest with cuddling a person or familiar cat.
