The Original Longhair preserves a traditional longhaired type associated with earlier Persian breeding. It has a semi-cobby body, round head and abundant hair, but a clearly visible muzzle. Long hair forms a ruff, full breeches and a bushy tail.

WCF gives it a separate breeding identity under code TLH. The programme aims to retain classical head structure and proportions, which have become strongly shortened in some modern Persian lines. The name refers to a specific breeding direction and standard, rather than all longhaired domestic cats.
