Ocicat — size comparison — facts and sources
The Ocicat has a strong, athletic body and a short, satiny coat with clear spots. Individual markings contrast with a paler background, and hairs contain bands of different shades. Long legs and a muscular body support agile movement. Silver colour varieties also occur.
The first spotted kitten appeared unexpectedly in a programme combining Siamese and Abyssinian cats. Later selection established the pattern and strong build. Its name recalls the ocelot, but its ancestry consists of domestic cats without contributions from that wild species.
Ocicats are generally confident, sociable and quick to learn new activities. They enjoy investigating objects, climbing and playing with people. They often initiate contact, and curiosity helps them adapt capably to changing surroundings.
