Nebelung — size comparison — facts and sources
The Nebelung has an elongated, muscular body, large ears and a semi-long blue coat. Silver hair tips give a delicate sheen, particularly noticeable on the bushy tail. Green eyes and a slender outline recall the Russian Blue.
The modern breed originated in the United States. Its name combines German Nebel, meaning mist, with the title of the Germanic epic Nibelungenlied. The first registered cats, Siegfried and Brunhilde, were named after its characters. Later breeding established semi-long hair and blue colouring.
Nebelungs are generally gentle, attached to family and cautious with strangers. They often watch new situations from a distance first. In familiar surroundings they enjoy play, closely follow daily routines and seek quiet contact with their owner.
