Manx — size comparison — facts and sources
The Manx has a short back, a broad chest and powerful hind legs that raise the hindquarters. A shortened tail is characteristic, but length varies even within a litter. Rumpy, riser, stumpy and longy describe the range from no tail to a long one. The short coat is dense and double.
The breed comes from the Isle of Man, where short tails became established in the local population. The mutation responsible can also disrupt spinal and nerve development; this group of problems is called Manx syndrome.
Manx cats are generally active, intelligent and attached to home. They enjoy games, watching people and using high places. An individual’s mobility nevertheless also depends on whether the mutation has affected other parts of the spine.
