Lykoi — size comparison — facts and sources
The Lykoi has a lean, muscular body and an unusual sparse coat. Black and unpigmented hairs mix to produce roan colouring. Areas around the eyes, nose, muzzle and backs of the ears have less hair. Coat abundance may change markedly with the seasons, so the same cat can appear nearly naked or much more fully coated at different times.
The breed began in the United States in 2011, using an independently occurring natural coat trait in domestic cats. Its name comes from Greek lykos, meaning wolf, and refers to its unusual appearance.
Lykoi are generally active, curious and attentive to movement. They enjoy investigating corners, tracking toys and playing hunting games. They often show attachment to familiar people by approaching for contact.
