LaPerm Shorthair — size comparison — facts and sources
The shorthaired LaPerm has a light, muscular body and springy hair forming loose waves and curls. Its whiskers may also curl. The tail resembles a wavy bottle brush, whereas the longhaired variety has a fuller plume.
The breed developed in the United States from a natural coat mutation in farm cats. Both hair lengths retain the same characteristic, irregularly waved coat structure.
The LaPerm usually seeks contact readily and takes an interest in people. It may rest quietly nearby, then suddenly follow a toy with enthusiasm. Curiosity often prompts it to investigate new objects and climb to higher places.
