Korat — size comparison — facts and sources
The Korat has a compact, muscular body, a large heart-shaped head and wide-open eyes. Its short coat is silver-blue, with paler hair tips creating a delicate sheen. Green eye colour develops gradually and may reach full intensity only in adulthood.
It comes from Thailand, where it is known as Si-Sawat and has long been associated with luck and prosperity. The tradition of giving newlyweds a pair expressed wishes for a fortunate life together. Modern breeding retained its characteristic uniform colour.
Korats usually become closely attached to their people and watch their behaviour attentively. Curious and quick to learn, they enjoy play. They may actively seek attention while cautiously observing new situations first. Among familiar people they often seek physical contact and shared rest.
