Khao Manee — size comparison — facts and sources
The Khao Manee is a white, short-haired cat with an athletic body and fairly large ears. The close-fitting coat reveals its muscles. Eyes may be blue, gold or green; odd-eyed cats are especially recognisable, but this combination is not required for the breed.
It comes from Thailand, where white cats were described in old manuscripts known as Tamra Maew. Khao Manee translates as white jewel. These cats remained little known outside Thailand for a long time, with organised breeding abroad developing only in the late twentieth century.
It is usually outgoing, curious and clearly interested in people. It often vocalises to its owner, approaches to inspect an activity and moves readily from watching to play. It enjoys climbing and following nearby movement.
