German Rex — size comparison — facts and sources

The German Rex has a medium-sized, fairly strong body and a rounded head. Short hair forms soft waves across the body and lacks typical straight guard hairs. The delicate coat contrasts with well-developed muscles and a solid build.

Lämmchen, a female found beside a Berlin hospital in 1951, is considered an important founder. Her wavy coat became the basis of a German breeding programme. FIFe recognised the German Rex in 1982, although the breed remained relatively uncommon.

It is usually friendly, lively and interested in people. It enjoys following toys, climbing high and joining household activities. In close relationships it often shows attachment by approaching, rubbing and choosing to rest beside its owner.
