German Longhair — size comparison — facts and sources
The German Longhair has a large, rectangular body, substantial bone and a gently trapezoidal head. Semi-long hair forms a full ruff, breeches and fluffy tail. A broad range of coat colours is permitted.
Its history relates to Friedrich Schwangart’s concept of a German longhaired cat in the first half of the twentieth century. Breeding was later rebuilt around this less extreme type. Today WCF is among the organisations maintaining a standard.
It is usually described as calm and sociable. It readily spends time near household members, watches their activities and joins in play, combining interest in its surroundings with fairly gentle interaction.
