The Genetta is intended to combine the Munchkin’s short legs with the Bengal’s spotted coat, sometimes involving the Ocicat. Its low outline and coat pattern are meant to resemble a genet. The genet itself is not a cat and does not contribute to this line.
It is an experimental cross between domestic cat breeds with limited breeding documentation. Shortened limbs are associated with a UGDH gene variant affecting long-bone development. Welfare consequences have not been adequately studied; altered joint loading is among the possibilities. Behavioural information comes chiefly from breeder accounts rather than studies of an established population.
