Devon Rex — size comparison — facts and sources
The Devon Rex has very large, low-set ears, a short muzzle and widely spaced eyes. Its slender but muscular body carries a short, soft, wavy coat. Whiskers may be curled or brittle, and coat density varies between individuals. Its light frame supports quick turns and capable climbing.
The breed originated in Devon, England, through a natural mutation producing wavy hair. Although the coat resembles the Cornish Rex’s, a different genetic change is responsible. Further breeding established the distinctive coat, large ears and short, broad muzzle. The Devon became a separate breed, later developed in many countries.
Devons are usually sociable and playful. They stay close to people, climb to high places and sometimes sit on a person’s shoulder. They investigate new objects and quickly find ways to attract attention. At rest, many seek warmth and close physical contact with household members.
