Chausie — size comparison — facts and sources

The Chausie is tall, long-legged and muscular, with a deep chest and large, high-set ears. Its short coat may be solid black, ticked tabby or have the distinctive silvered grizzled effect. A long body and relatively small head emphasise its athletic build.

The breed descends from crosses between domestic cats and the jungle cat, Felis chaus. A modern breeding programme developed in the United States, establishing recognisable physical traits and a companion-cat temperament. TICA admitted the Chausie to full championship competition in 2013.

Chausies enjoy running, jumping high and joining active games. They usually show strong interest in people, may retrieve objects and quickly discover new ways to reach a toy. Athleticism, persistent curiosity and a desire to participate in surrounding events often combine in their behaviour.
