The Caracat F1 is a direct hybrid between a caracal and a domestic cat. It may have tall ears with dark tufts and a strong, long-legged body, but appearance also depends on the domestic line used. F1 denotes the first generation after the wild parent.
The first reported case involved an accidental mating at Moscow Zoo. Later private programmes did not establish a uniform standard recognised by major cat federations. Evidence about behaviour, development and fertility is limited, so the Caracat F1 cannot reliably be presented as a breed with an established domestic-cat temperament.
