Balinese — size comparison — facts and sources
The Balinese has a long, slender body, a wedge-shaped head and large ears. Blue eyes and darker points on the face, ears, legs and tail connect it visually with the Siamese. Its silky semi-long coat and plumed tail distinguish it. The coat has little undercoat and falls softly against the body.
Developed in the United States from long-haired kittens appearing in Siamese lines, the breed was named for the grace of Balinese dancers rather than its place of origin. It retains the Siamese body type and pointed colouring.
Balinese cats are usually social, communicative and inquisitive. They often follow their people, investigate what they are doing and respond vocally. Climbing, jumping and inventive games attract their attention, and many seek close contact and initiate play.
