American Bobtail Longhair — size comparison — facts and sources
The longhaired American Bobtail has a broad head, substantial bone and rectangular body. Its semi-long, layered coat forms a ruff, breeches and fluffy short tail. The tail remains mobile, with length and shape differing between cats.
It was developed in the United States from short-tailed domestic cats. Bobcat ancestry has not been confirmed, although the broad head and natural bobtail suggest that resemblance. Both coat lengths mature slowly, developing a more substantial build with age.
Usually sociable, curious and playful, it can retrieve, learn simple tasks and follow a toy for long periods. It often chooses to rest near household members.
