White Leghorn — size comparison — facts and sources

The White Leghorn is a lightweight layer with close white plumage, yellow shanks and white earlobes. The hen’s large single comb often flops to one side. An upright tail and a relatively slender breast give the bird its distinctive outline.

The breed descends from Italian chickens and is valued for laying white-shelled eggs. Poland’s conservation programme includes the G-99 line, whose breed description gives a hen mass of about 2.1 kg.
