Ural owl — size comparison — facts and sources

The Ural owl has a broad, pale facial disc and almost black eyes. Dark lengthwise streaks mark its whitish underside, and its long, barred tail helps distinguish it from the tawny owl.

It lives in extensive mixed and coniferous forests, nesting in sites such as large tree cavities or broken, hollow trunks. It hunts mainly small mammals but also takes birds. In Poland it is found chiefly in the southeast.
