The turquoise parrot inhabits open eucalyptus woodland and grassy clearings. Green and yellow plumage accompanies a turquoise face; males additionally have red wing patches.
It chiefly gathers grass seeds, flowers and small fruit from the ground. Pairs or small groups use forest margins and nearby openings.
