Swallow-tailed kite — size comparison — facts and sources
The swallow-tailed kite hunts over forests, wetlands and their edges. It catches insects in flight and, during breeding, also gathers treefrogs, lizards and small snakes. Adults often eat prey while airborne, steering through tight turns with the forked tail.
The male brings food to the nest, where the female breaks it up and feeds the youngest chicks.
