Rose-breasted Grosbeak — size comparison — facts and sources

The rose-breasted grosbeak visits deciduous and mixed forests and wooded areas along their edges. Among the leaves it searches for insects, gathers fruit and eats seeds.

The pair builds an open nest in a tree or shrub. The male helps incubate the eggs and rear the young, allowing the partners to share some duties. During the breeding season its melodious song, heard from sheltered branches, is an important sign of its presence.

It is migratory, spending the breeding season in the north and winter in warmer regions of the Americas. On migration it may appear in gardens and at feeders.
