The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Nicobar pigeon inhabits forested islands from the Nicobars to the western Pacific. It has a dark head, a short white tail and elongated neck feathers falling over the back. Plumage shimmers green, copper and blue in sunlight. Most food is collected on the ground: fruit, seeds and small invertebrates in leaf litter.
It flies between islands, separating feeding areas from roosts and breeding colonies. It nests in vegetation on small islands and may seek food on larger neighbouring land masses. Both parents care for offspring, initially feeding crop milk and later introducing other foods. The youngster leaves the nest only once capable of flight.
