Malachite kingfisher — size comparison — facts and sources
The malachite kingfisher has a blue back, orange underparts and a small crest. It chooses a low waterside perch to watch for small fish, crustaceans and aquatic insects.
After a brief dive it returns with prey to a branch. It usually hunts alone. For breeding it excavates an earth-bank tunnel ending in a chamber where adults deliver food to young.
