Magnificent frigatebird — size comparison — facts and sources
The magnificent frigatebird inhabits tropical seas, islands and mangroves. It soars for hours, snatching surface prey and sometimes forcing birds to surrender food. It eats fish and squid.
Island colonies nest on shrubs and low trees. Males bring twigs and females assemble nests. Rearing one chick takes long; after initial shared care males depart while females continue feeding.
