The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Indian peafowl comes from South Asia, inhabiting open forests, scrub and areas near fields. Males have a shining blue neck and a long train with colourful eyespots. The train consists of elongated feathers above the true tail. Females are much more subdued, helping conceal them while incubating.
It mainly gathers food on the ground, eating seeds, fruit, insects and small vertebrates. It can fly into trees to roost. During courtship, the male fans and vibrates the train and calls loudly to attract females.
The female makes a sheltered ground nest, incubates and guides the young. Chicks soon collect small food items independently but remain under her care. The male does not help raise them.
